Protect New West’s Climate Action Funding

New West is set to lose $800,000 of provincial funding for climate action. This funding is critical for the city to plan and implement its Climate Mitigation Plan and Climate Adaptation and Resiliency Plan. On June 8th, the city council is voting on a motion that recommends the Union of BC Municipalities call on the provincial government to immediately renew and continue direct climate action funding to local governments. Email the city council now to encourage them to vote yes on the Local Government Climate Action Funding Motion on June 8th!

Tell New West to call for a Health Assessment of BC’s LNG industry

A large and growing body of research shows that Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) has terrible impacts on human health. Despite these health hazards, BC is moving forward with the construction of the Tilbury LNG facility, which will pollute the air of New Westminster and harm the health of our community. Several cities are calling for an independent, cumulative health impact assessment of the gas industry. On June 8th, the city will vote on a motion to join this call for a health assessment of BC LNG. Email New West City Council now to demand they join the call!
