Plug-In Solar for the People campaign

This campaign is working to build the regulations, the standards, and the supply chain to make plug-in solar panel kits a reality in Canada!

These solar panel kits plug directly into your wall outlet, reducing your energy bills and making clean energy a reality for renters and others living in apartments or condos! Plug-in solar has been a huge success in Europe; now it’s time for Canada to do the same.

Build Canada’s East-West Grid with Renewables

Canada’s electricity demand will double, or even triple, by 2050. We need a power grid that is fit for the future that provides clean, reliable and affordable electricity for Canadians.

A stronger and more connected grid offers hundreds of thousands of jobs, reduced pollution, real energy security and lower energy bills. We can do this all while upholding Indigenous and workers’ rights and benefitting communities from coast to coast to coast.

It’s time for a People’s MOU

Carney keeps putting the interests of oil and gas corporations above the interests of the people.

The MOU he just finalized with Danielle Smith is the final nail in the coffin for Canada’s climate policy. He is greenlighting another toxic tar sands pipeline, enabling megaprojects to bypass key environmental regulations, and subsidizing the same Big Oil billionaires who are reaping record profits at our expense.

Carney is lying to us by saying that all these gifts to the fossil fuel industry somehow serve our national interest. But this destructive agenda threatens the health of our communities, the survival of our wildlife, and the future of our planet – all while costing us billions of dollars and tying our economy to a volatile and exploitative industry.

Enough. We need our government to sign a People’s MOU: a new deal to protect our communities and our future.

Tell BC: Fund local climate disaster prevention

The province of BC is cutting funding for local climate and wildfire preparedness programs and failing to implement critical flood mitigation strategies — at a time when climate impacts are intensifying. Tell the BC government to spend what is required to keep our communities safe from the increasing threats of climate change.

The Province must:

1. Reinstate and expand the Local Government Climate Action Program (LGCAP),

2. Fund implementation of the flood management strategy, and

3. Commit to long-term FireSmart funding

Take action now to tell your MLA, and the relevant Ministers: Keeping us safe from climate change is the priority.

Stop War Profiteering: Tax Excess Profits

While US and Israeli war-mongering inflicts devastating conflict and economic chaos on people around the world, oil and gas companies in Canada are making skyrocketing profits — set to rake in an extra $60 billion within a year.

While US and Israeli war-mongering inflicts devastating conflict and economic chaos on people around the world, oil and gas companies in Canada are making skyrocketing profits — set to rake in an extra $60 billion within a year.

But the federal government has the power to step in and tax excess profits, just like it has done before in times of crisis. A strong windfall tax could redirect billions toward lowering the cost of living, investing in public services, and accelerating the transition to clean energy.

When corporations exploit a crisis, we can’t shrug — we have to act. Add your voice and call on the federal government to implement a 75% windfall profit tax now.

Flood the Consultation: Don’t Fast-Track Destruction

The Government of Canada is proposing major legislative changes that would make it easier for mega-corporations to profit while our communities and the planet suffer the consequences.

Here are some of the most alarming parts of the proposal to fast-track the approval for pipelines, mines, nuclear facilities, and other mega-projects:

1. A Free Pass for Pipelines: Companies proposing new pipelines would no longer need to pass an Environmental Impact Assessment prior to their project receiving approval.

2. Federal Destruction Zones: Taking a page out of Doug Ford and Pierre Poilievre’s book, Carney wants to create special Federal Economic Zones where all new development is “pre-approved”.

3. Habitat Decimation: this proposal seeks to suspend the Fisheries Act and Species at Risk Act that are critical laws created to protect vulnerable habitats.

4. Corporations First, Communities Last: if passed, Carney’s changes will allow companies to start construction while projects are still in review, meanwhile they will rush through consultations with Indigenous peoples and communities.

Use our email template and send critical feedback to Prime Minister Carney and government officials before the public consultation closes on July 22. Tell them not to fast-track destruction. Take action now!
